The Foresthill Bridge, which soars 730 feet above the stream bed of the American River's North Fork, is reputed to be the 3rd highest bridge in the United States and the tallest in California. The bridge was originally built in 1973 to span the newly dammed waters of the 3 forks of the American River. As of 2013, the dam has not been built.
