Blurred Lines

I love this scene. It's peaceful and serene, if not entirely realistic in color and tone. I added some filters and soft focus to this, and like the dreamy atmosphere that was created. This beautiful beach is in north Kihei on Maui's south shore.

Linaigrette de Scheuchzer (Eriophorum scheuchzeri)

Les soies sont nombreuses et voyantes chez les Linaigrettes. Prises d'ordinaire pour des fleurs, elles en sont cependant les fruits. Leur aspect est en effet très différent selon les saisons. Au printemps, les inflorescences ont des anthères jaune vif alors qu'en été les infrutescences possèdent de gracieuses houppes cotonneuses, d'où leur nom (le nom scientifique de genre vient du grec erion : laine et pherein : porter).

Par rapport aux autres espèces de ce genre (famille des Cypéracées au port ressemblant aux Poacées, ex-Graminées), la principale caractéristique de celle-ci, dite du botaniste suisse JJ Scheuchzer (1672-1733) surtout connu pour son interprétation des fossiles comme vestiges du Déluge, est de ne comporter qu'un seul épi dont l'akène forme de fines soies blanches, très nombreuses, rassemblées en une aigrette (comme du Lin) longue de 15-25 mm, provenant du périgone modifié (cf. H Coste et C Favarger).
