Tiles at Shah-i-Zinda complex; Samarkand, Uzbekistan

The brick and tile work at the Shah-i-Zinda complex is incredible!



While the earliest mausoleums here date to the 11th century, construction took over 9 centuries and now holds over 20 buildings.



I was there on a cloudy day so the blues weren't singing like I know they can, but it forced me to step in closer. Rather than admiring the mass of colour, I looked at the detail and the design instead.
