We drove to Xibolizhan in the pre-dawn darkness to photograph the 08.35 workers train arrive. With the ending of the spoil train workings earlier this year the 2 boxcars carried very few people and the steam-hauled passenger service is not long for this world.



Here we see the train pulled by JS 2-8-2 6209 heading east back to Dongbolizhan via the open cast coal pit line. Again by this time the direct line running south of the pit had been closed.
