"The Library at Alexandria" - Egypt

The ancient library in Alexandria, Egypt, founded by the Ptolemy Dynasty around 290 BC, held the greatest trove of manuscripts in the world. Although there are conflicting reports about how and when it was destroyed, it burned, converting all that knowledge into smoke & ash.

Construction of the modern 'Bibliotheca Alexandrina' was initiated in 1995 and completed in 2002.

This is a 5-shot stitched panorama of the interior.
